In the ever-evolving landscape of digital marketing and business operations, finding the right tools can make all the difference. Sometimes, this difference can transform an entire business or career.

Today, I’ll share my journey with no-code automation and how it revolutionized not just my career, but entire businesses. This is a tale of discovery, innovation, and the power of accessible technology.

The Discovery: A Game-Changing Tool

In 2017, I stumbled upon Integromat (now known as Make), a no-code automation platform. As a small business owner focusing mainly on eCommerce, I was familiar with Zapier but constrained by its high costs. Make was a revelation—at roughly half the price of Zapier, it quickly became my go-to tool for process automation.

What began as a cost-saving measure soon blossomed into a passion. I found myself diving deep into Make’s capabilities, creating processes that significantly boosted my business’s efficiency and success. Little did I know, this newfound skill would soon become a pivotal part of my career.

From initially just storing my eCommerce data in Google Sheets and sending automated emails, Make evolved into the primary tool for every project in the company. I soon realized that almost any problem could find its solution there, and these solutions grew increasingly sophisticated.

From Personal Use to Professional Impact

Fast forward to 2020, I found myself at a crossroads. My business had closed (a story for another time), and I was seeking new opportunities. I landed a role as a PPC campaigns manager at an edTech company, where my experience with Make proved invaluable.

While the company was performing well, I noticed significant gaps in their digital marketing operations. They weren’t integrating backend events with Facebook and Google Ads, syncing audience lists, or implementing many crucial best practices. The reason? A common problem in many businesses: limited resources and competing priorities.

The Challenge: Bridging the Gap Between Marketing and IT

The company had a talented R&D team, but they were overwhelmed with core business tasks. The complex nature of advertising APIs meant that bridging this gap would require a significant time investment—something the company was hesitant to commit to.

This is where my experience with Make came into play. I proposed implementing the platform to the CEO, showcasing how it could solve our integration challenges without putting additional strain on the R&D team.

The Solution: Collaborative No-Code Development

Working closely with the R&D team, we developed a system where they created processes to trigger events and collect data, and I used Make to handle the rest. The results were nothing short of magical. Not only did we complete development requests faster, but our campaign results improved dramatically.

The Ripple Effect: Company-Wide Transformation

The success of our initial project sparked company-wide adoption of Make. We implemented automated processes across all departments—from finance and HR to operations and R&D. The ability to develop and test ideas within days unleashed a wave of innovation throughout the company.

Perhaps the most significant change was the empowerment of non-technical staff. As a campaign manager with a marketing perspective, I could now prototype entire development projects. This bridged the gap between marketing needs and technical implementation, leading to more effective and targeted solutions.

The Ongoing Impact

Today, that edTech company continues to rely heavily on Make, constantly developing new processes to stay ahead in a competitive market. Inspired by this success, I’ve since helped several other businesses embrace the no-code revolution, each time witnessing the transformative power of accessible automation.
